The Hope Of The Nations

Years ago, I read Max Lucado’s book, God Came Near.  I highly recommendbaby-jesus-in-manger-with-mary-and-wise-men it as a great way to prepare your heart for Christmas.  You can find a taste of it here.  It inspired me to write this song.  Since I don’t have time to do a proper recording of it (I’ll save that for another year), allow me to share the lyrics.  I wish you a blessed Christmas as you celebrate the birth of the One who is the Hope of the nations.

THE HOPE OF THE NATIONS

Tiny hands, tiny feet

Reaching for a mother’s caress so sweet

Tiny hands, tiny feet

One day pierced and nailed against a cruel tree

CHORUS:

This Child is the hope of the nations

This Child announced with angel celebrations

Heaven-sent, so innocent

He will bear the marks of Calvary

This Child is the hope of the nations

This child proclaims the day of our salvation

The promised One, Messiah’s come

He descended to set His people free

Even me

Little face, little head

Wrapped in rags and lying in a manger bed

Little face, little head

Future king to wear a crown of thorns instead

Chorus

Bridge:

Oh hear him speak, the voice of eternity

Giving hope and calming the storm within me

The Living Word will speak for all the words of life for all to hear

“It is finished” …your redemption is near

Little heart, holy heart

Coursing life of light brought to this world so dark

Little heart, holy heart

Eternal love shown long before the world did start

This Child is the hope of the nations

This Child announced with angel celebrations

Heaven-sent, so innocent

He will bear the marks of Calvary

This Child is the hope of the nations

This child proclaims the day of our salvation

The promised One, Messiah’s come

He descended to set His people free

Even me
